Create consistent campaign links, test them on the live page and understand what UTM tags can and cannot measure in GA4.
Copy your live landing page URL, not the editor or preview link. If the address already contains a question mark, additional parameters begin with an ampersand. Do not place passwords, personal details or private lead information inside URL parameters.
Add utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign consistently. Example: ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign=autumn_offer. Use lowercase names to avoid splitting one campaign into several reporting rows.
An email newsletter could use utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email; Instagram advertising could use utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=paid_social. Keep the campaign identifier stable when promoting the same offer across channels.
Paste the completed link into a private browser and confirm the correct landing page opens, redirects preserve meaningful parameters where needed, and the phone, WhatsApp and lead form still work. Check your analytics real-time view only if GA4 or another analytics service is actually installed and consent allows collection.
UTM tags identify traffic sources; they do not create lead or purchase events. Submit an authorized test enquiry and verify it reaches the intended inbox. Configure event-based conversion tracking separately, then compare qualified enquiries to campaign spend.
